2020 Land Rover Rang Rover Sport SUV

Compare the Range Rover Sport to the Competition

The Range Rover Sport is a luxurious midsize SUV on the Knoxville market. With so many options to choose from, let's explore the benefits of the Range Rover Sport compared to some of the other luxury SUVs, like the Audi Q7, the BMW X5, Lexus LX 570, and Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class. Which model will come out on top?

Range Rover Sport

The Land Rover Range Rover's base engine is a 3.0-Liter inline six-cylinder engine mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel-drivetrain that produces 355-horsepower and 365 pound-feet of torque. Technology comes in the form of:

  • standard Touch Pro™ Duo 10.0-inch infotainment touchscreens
  • Bluetooth
  • SiriusXM® satellite radio
  • HD Radio
  • a Wi-Fi hotspot
  • Meridian™ 2 sound system with thirteen speakers

Standard features include stability control, e, lane departure warning, front and rear parking aid, and a rear-view camera. Adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, and blind-spot assist are optional.

Range Rover Sport vs. Audi Q7

If Maryville drivers are looking for something with plenty of power and capabilities, then the Range Rover Sport is a better choice over the Q7. The Q7 offers only 248 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. The Q7 does a little better when it comes to its standard tech offerings, but it still doesn't beat out the Range Rover Sport. Both use big, 3.0-Liter V6 diesel engines, but the 268 horsepower one in the Audi is the quietest; it's only audible from cold at idle before fading into the background once warmed up. The engine in the Sport has plenty of mid-range pull for towing, though the Audi is unmatched for smoothness and refinement.

Range Rover Sport vs. BMW X5

This is another case where the Range Rover Sport's powerful engine options and off-road capabilities give it a serious advantage. The BMW X5 holds its own a little better than the Q7 with a 300 horsepower, 3.0-liter I-6 engine, but it still doesn't hold a candle to the Sport's supercharged power. The X5 also does not come standard with AWD or 4WD, meaning Farragut, TN needs to upgrade or settle for its RWD system. The Range Rover Sport is also standard with Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ smartphone integration. The BMW X5 doesn't include either of these features standard. The Range Rover Sport is still the choice for those Oak Ridge TN, drivers who intend to venture off-road.

Land Rover Range Rover Sport vs. Lexus LX 570

The Lexus LX 570 is one of the few remaining body-on-frame luxury SUVs around. Based on the Toyota Land Cruiser, it's also one of the most off-road-capable. But compared to the Range Rover Sport, this decade-old SUV has a rough ride and a thirsty V8 engine. The Lexus GX is a hardcore off-roader, but it's very aged compared to the bunch. In addition to the capability to conquer grueling terrain, the LX 570 SUV can tow up to 7,000 pounds. Features include LED headlamps, intuitive parking assist, smart stop technology, trailer sway control, vehicle stability control, hill-start assist, and an advanced ten-airbag system. A multi-terrain monitor comes standard and uses a virtual under-vehicle camera to observe your surroundings.

Range Rover Sport vs. Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class

The GLE-Class is more tech-forward, with refined powertrains and a world-beating suspension. The 2020 Range Rover Sport is one of the most luxurious, most capable SUVs out there. The 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class is a study crossover SUV featuring modest comfort and luxury.
